Where We’re Going
Suits and the City is expanding our mission beyond networking events. We’re proud to offer LGBTQIA+ sensitivity trainings designed to help businesses and organizations foster inclusive, affirming environments. These trainings go beyond basic education—they empower industries to better serve LGBTQIA+ clients, customers, and employees, improving workplace culture and strengthening community relationships.
Research shows that by investing in inclusive practices, businesses can attract and retain top talent, broaden their customer base, and demonstrate leadership in inclusion. Together, we can build a more inclusive and equitable future for Mid-Michigan and beyond.
Where We’ve Been
Established in 2004, Suits and the City began as a discreet networking group for gay professionals in Mid-Michigan. In the early days, a strict no-photographs policy protected members' privacy during events, as many participants were not open about their identities. Today, we have a professional photographer taking pictures, and we share our joy with the wider community on social media.
Over the past two decades, we've witnessed significant societal progress and a growing acceptance of LGBTQIA+ individuals. Our organization has evolved alongside these changes, transitioning from private gatherings to public events open to all that celebrate authenticity and community. Today, Suits and the City stands as a testament to the resilience and advancement of our community, continually adapting to meet the needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals in an ever-changing world.
